The Bangor Region is in the center of a powerful triangle of markets in New York, Montreal and Halifax.   Our transportation network includes an international airport complex that is open 24/7, Interstate 95 and other major routes that provide overnight ground transportation to major U.S. and Canadian markets, modern rail and intermodal connections, and three ocean ports within 30 miles.

Air Service

Bangor International Airport (BGR) – BGR offers over 50 flights a day to and from major cities in the Northeast, national and regional hubs, and Florida and the Caribbean.

Non-stop destinations include Boston, New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Newark. Bangor is served by Delta, US Airways, Continental, Northwest, and Allegiant Air.

Highways

Bangor is located on I-95, the major north-south corridor on the East Coast. Interstate 395 provides a quick access to State Route 1-A, which connects to the Maine Coast. Canada is 90 minutes away on State Route 9.

Within 30 miles of Bangor are ports that transport commodities swiftly and safely to points across the United States and Canada via a cohesive intermodal transportation system. These ports also offer the shortest routes for European-bound cargo.

Rail

The Bangor area serves as a junction for the two rail systems that service the northern and central part of the state. Canadian Atlantic Railway operates a third rail system in the area, one that runs east-west through the northern part of the state.
